WHY and HOW you should PRINT your photos

Hi friend! I want to take just a bit of time to walk through the variety of print options that are available to my clients after you’ve received your photos. These same options will be available to any of my clients—whether you are a wedding client or a lifestyle/portrait client. Read below for more information—or, if you’re a visual learner like myself—please check out the video below for a step-by-step process on how to place a print order directly through your gallery link.

WHY you should print your photos.

Online galleries, as beautiful as they are, are not heirlooms. As much as Facebook feeds and Instagram grids hope we come back to look at our digital history, the truth it that we very rarely (if ever) revisit the images that we post online. Printed photos on the other hand, often get passed down quite literally for generations to come. I really love knowing that images that I take can (through prints) work their way into the physical legacy of the clients that I work with.

As the world around us becomes more and more digital, I believe we become more deeply connected to tangible things. Printing your photos, in my opinion, is the best way to feel and remain connected to the memories that they ultimately exist to preserve.

HOW to place a print order

Pic-time makes it exceptionally easy for my clients to order a variety of heirloom-quality print products directly from their online galleries. Watch the video above or continue reading below for a step-by-step guide on how to place a print order.

STEP 1: SELECT YOUR FAVORITE PHOTOS

My first suggestion when considering print options is to simply scroll through your gallery and favorite all of the images that could possibly be compelling to you as some sort of print. This could be a photo for the mantle or a collection of images to later be used in an album. Make these selections by signing into your gallery and clicking the heart icon that appears on the photos when you hover over them. These photos will then be added to a sub-selection of your overall gallery (called “favorites”) and will give you a more manageable collection of photos to consider for print.

STEP 2: SHOP YOUR PRINT STOREFRONT

Once you’ve made these selections, the real fun begins! Hop on over to the print storefront (“SHOP” tab) to scroll through the product list and see which of these options stand out to you as a compelling way to preserve specific photos. You can see that there are a ton of different possibilities here and all of the products are exceptional quality. Once you’ve selected a particular print item(s), printing photos is as simple as dragging and dropping them into place. You’ll be able to pull photos directly from your gallery sections, or from your newly created “favorites” collection if you opted to create this. The video at the top-end of this blog post shows this process in detail starting at 4:01.

STEP 3: REVIEW AND ORDER

Finally, be sure that you are reviewing the print-previews of your order as you design your prints. One thing to be mindful of is that some standard photo sizes (e.g. 4x5 or 8x10) will cause your images to be cropped slightly when printed. It’s important to review your print preview to ensure that nothing critical is being cropped out of a photo at a certain print size. Most modern cameras make images in a 2:3 aspect ratio, so when in doubt, chose print sizes consistent with this same aspect ratio for printing.

If you opt to create an album, these can be saved in draft mode to allow you to take your time getting a design just right. If you’re feeling stick, Pic-time will even design an album for you that you can later modify to your liking. All of this is very intuitive, and I’m always available to help answer any questions you might have along the way.

ENJOY YOUR PRINTED LEGACY

I’m always so grateful when clients choose to print their photos through my online galleries. It means so much to me that my work gives me an opportunity to create genuine family heirlooms for clients that I work with. I feel very honored that my work has found its way into the lives and homes of so many of you. Thank you!

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if I can be of any help to you as you consider print options!

Cheers,

Mark
