Moments are happening live, my job is to preserve them in a meaningful way

I am deeply motivated by a desire to preserve a visual legacy—to capture a momentary flicker of emotion and commit it to eternity.

I strive to capture moments that are genuine, timeless and transcendent. I want the photos I take to mean something real to the people I work with.

My belief

Weddings are real events, not photoshoots. Just as no two couples are alike, it follows that their wedding celebrations will also be unique—each with their own distinct characters, background and storyline. My job is to find that story and help to tell it in an honest way.

My best work is found in the in-between—the moments that can’t be planned or orchestrated. These images are often unposed and slightly imperfect, giving them a quality that feels authentic and genuinely human. The best wedding photographers are first and foremost good listeners—taking time to hear what is important to their clients and using that information to inform the approach they take to documenting the celebration. I believe wedding photography falls at the intersection of art and service.

My approach

I approach every wedding as though I am an invited guest who happens to be very good with a camera. I strive to be more than just an outside observer making images from the fringes. Instead, I (discretely and naturally) immerse myself in the center of the action, ensuring that the resulting images feel true to the moment, helping my clients preserve the emotions and memories of their wedding days in a way that feels very true to the way things actually unfolded.

I choose to photograph weddings with a combination of digital and film cameras, all with the end game in mind of creating beautiful and timeless images that will age tastefully for generations to come.

More important than the equipment I use is the interpersonal approach that I take—allowing my clients to be put at ease and to be their true selves in front of my cameras. I like to say I’m like a fly on the wall who gives his opinion every once in a while. I offer direction and advice to help put you and your guests at ease, but I do not over-choreograph moments for the sake of a photo op.
